{"id":785,"date":"2021-09-28T17:00:25","date_gmt":"2021-09-28T17:00:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/annualreport.sunypoly.edu\/2021-2022\/?page_id=785"},"modified":"2022-11-02T20:23:45","modified_gmt":"2022-11-02T20:23:45","slug":"athletics-highlights","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/annualreport.sunypoly.edu\/2021-2022\/athletics-highlights\/","title":{"rendered":"Athletics Highlights"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Dean&#8217;s list:<\/strong> 34 student-athletes<br><strong>President&#8217;s Achievement Award:<\/strong> 18 student-athletes<br><strong>President&#8217;s Excellence Award:<\/strong> 30 student-athletes<br><strong>All Teams GPA:<\/strong> 3.01<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><p>16 student-athletes were inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National Student-Athlete Honor Society.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Josh Gregory and Molly Burdick were named the SUNY Poly Athletics Athletes of the Year, as well as the Kiwanis Club Athletes of the Year.<\/p><\/li><li><p>SUNY Poly junior guard Molly Burdick competed for the USA D-III team in the USA Sports &amp; Tours 2022 Women&#8217;s Basketball Brazilian Tour. Burdick&#8217;s travels with the small group of Division III student-athletes took her all over Brazil in nine days. Burdick, a NAC First Team All-Conference selection in 2022 was the Wildcats leading scorer this past season. She scored her 1,000th career point, led her team to a 12-1 record in conference play, and helped the Wildcats win their fifth Conference Championship in the last six seasons.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Josh Gregory was SUNY Poly&#8217;s nomination for NAC Man of the Year. The award recognizes academic, athletics, and character\/community contributions by conference student-athletes. Additionally, as an alumnus (&#8217;22, Men&#8217;s Basketball) he signed a professional basketball team contract with UBSC Raiffeisen Graz (Austria).<\/p><\/li><li><p>Garrett Hassard (Men&#8217;s Volleyball and Athletics Graduate Assistant) was a SUNY Chancellor&#8217;s Award recipient.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Mike Durr and Al Calogero were named the inaugural SUNY Poly Athletics Service Award recipients at the Athletics Awards Celebration.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Men&#8217;s Soccer welcomed 25 prospective student-athletes to campus this past June for an ID Clinic.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Long-time Women&#8217;s &amp; Men&#8217;s Cross Country Coach, Bill Tylutki, was recognized for his contributions to the Department and University as he announced his retirement upon the conclusion of the 2021-2022 academic year.<\/p><\/li><li><p>SUNY Poly alumnus and former student-athlete, David Golembiowski, was named the Department&#8217;s Assistant Athletic Director for Athletics Event and Facilities in late July.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Athletics is preparing for Wildcat Weekend in September and looking to welcome back alumni\/ae with a special focus on female athletics alumnae as Title IX turns 50.<\/p><\/li><li><p>Mixed Golf will make its debut for the Wildcats this fall semester.
